About The Position

The Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion and Recreation at the University of North Texas invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with expertise in exercise physiology or related area (e.g., biochemistry, immunology, metabolism) to begin in Fall 2026. It is expected that the applicant will be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the department's exercise physiology curriculum, as well as have an active and focused research agenda with potential for, or success in, obtaining external grant or industry funding. The successful applicant will be able to collaborate with, complement, and expand the ongoing research in the shared Applied Physiology Laboratory (Drs. Deemer, Hill, Keller, McFarlin, Sprick, and Vingren). Tenured and tenure-track faculty are expected to mentor undergraduate and graduate students. A typical teaching load is two organized courses in each of the long semesters (2:2). Experience with teaching online and hybrid courses using Canvas or a similar learning management system is desirable. Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Biochemistry, Exercise Molecular Biology, Exercise/Sport Nutrition, Exercise Immunology, or closely related field at the time of appointment. Exceptional ABD candidates will be considered, but the position requires completion of all doctoral requirements by Aug. 31, 2026.
  • Demonstrated scholarship via first and co-authored publications.
  • Demonstrated record of teaching.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.

  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels
