The University of the District of Columbia is seeking a dynamic, patron-centered individual with collaboration skills and experiences to serve as an Assistant Professor of Engineering in the Division of Math, IT, and Engineering at the University of the District of Columbia Community College. The Assistant/ Associate Professor of Engineering is responsible for teaching various Engineering courses and providing advisement to students. This is a full-time 9-month tenure track position.

  • Teaches courses in Information Technology.
  • Assists with recruitment of new students, advises and assists with the retention of current students; answers student inquiries (emails and voice mail messages) in a timely manner.
  • Engages in scholarly activities and community service.
  • Conducts a minimum of five virtual or in-person office hours per week over a five-day week or the equivalent.
  • Participates in professional development workshops to become certified to teach online and to build online courses.
  • Teaches online synchronous courses during the day, evening, and/or weekend.
  • Teaches online asynchronous courses.
  • Teaches in-person during the day, evening, and/or weekend; may include more than one campus site.
  • Participates in the college governance process and college-wide committees.
  • Adheres to college and program policies and procedures.
  • Participates fully in curriculum development and revision.
  • Recommends selection of OER (Open Educational Resources) textbooks and other instructional materials.
  • Skill in teaching a diverse student body with various learning styles, familiarity or knowledge of differentiated instruction.
  • Possess a high level of professionalism, including collaboration, excellent communication and customer service skills, and commitment to a learner-centered environment.
  • An appropriate terminal degree or agree to complete this degree within a specified period.
  • At least three (3) years of full-time teaching experience, including two (2) years in an institution of higher education.
  • Experience with instructional technology and Blackboard or other instructional platform.
  • A record of scholarship and professional growth.
  • At least five (5) years of full-time teaching experience in an institution of higher education, including three (3) years as an Assistant Professor.
  • Eligible for health and life insurance.
