About The Position

Austin Peay State University is seeking an Assistant Professor in Engineering Technology for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track position starting August 1, 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and teaching courses in the Mechatronics concentration of the BS Engineering Technology program, engaging in research, and contributing to departmental growth and development.

Requirements

• A Master's degree or higher in Engineering Technology or Engineering in Mechatronics or a closely related field.
• Documented three years of relevant industrial experience preferred.
• Professional Registration (such as the P.E.) preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
• Evidence of good character, mature attitude, and professional integrity.
• Mastery of common modern instrumental methods of analysis in the candidate's area of expertise.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in developing online/hybrid courses.
• Active participation in professional organizations related to Engineering Technology.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in the Mechatronics concentration, including core lower and upper division courses.
• Manage complex capstone projects following ETAC of ABET requirements.
• Maintain a minimum of 30 teaching load credits per academic year, including advisement and research.
• Establish productive student-oriented undergraduate research projects.
• Assist in developing new courses, including online/hybrid formats.
• Implement diverse teaching techniques and maintain high standards for students.
• Develop and implement evaluation and assessment techniques for courses.
• Provide frequent feedback to students regarding their performance.
• Conduct research and scholarly activities within the discipline.
• Engage in professional development and community service activities.
• Contribute to program objectives and seek program accreditation by ETAC-ABET.
• Serve on committees and assist in university governance.
