About The Position

Marshall University Biomedical and Electrical Engineering (BMEE) department invites applications for (2) 3-year Term nine-month, non-tenure teaching track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. Candidates must be committed to contributing to an undergraduate-centered, pedagogically innovative, and modern Electrical and Computer Engineering degree program. Position Description: The faculty member in this position is required to teach lecture and laboratory courses within Electrical and Computer Engineering and related topics: supervise student projects; pursue professional development; engage in academic and career mentoring of students; assist in program assessment and execution of a continuous improvement plan; participate in university service; and engage in professional activities and organizations. The position is a 9-month appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Marshall University is a co-educational public university in Huntington, West Virginia, founded in 1837 and named after John Marshall, the fourth Chief Justice of the United States. Marshall is West Virginia's second-largest university and the oldest public institution of higher learning in the state, tracing its founding to more than 180 years ago. Marshall University has been accredited continuously as an institution of higher learning by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 1928. It also has earned and maintains specialized accreditation status with 21 agencies responsible for evaluating and conferring specialty accreditation for educational programs and fields of study such as business, engineering, medicine, pharmacy, psychology, and teacher education speech-language pathology. Marshall's offerings include more than 120-degree programs leading to associate, bachelor's, master's, first professional and doctoral degrees. In addition, the university provides certificate programs in several fields. Huntington offers a favorable cost of living, proximity to a wide variety of outdoor recreational opportunities (e.g., skiing, mountain biking, fishing, trails, rafting, hunting, boating, horseback riding, New River Gorge National Park, etc.), and a broad range of urban, sub-urban, and rural areas within easy driving distance of campus. Huntington is a vibrant, progressive city with a diverse economic base, and serves as a hub of the Tri-State (Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia) Ashland-Ironton-Huntington metropolitan area, which spans seven counties among its three states and has a population of 365,419. Requirements

  • Must be able to perform all essential job duties as outlined in the job description.
  • Possess a BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering and have received an MS in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
  • Experience in Electrical or Computer Engineering

Nice To Haves

  • Possess a Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Previous teaching experience on a college level, which includes experience with course development, laboratory development, program assessment, and ABET accreditation.
  • Having industry experience in the US and the capabilities to build industry partnerships.
