About The Position

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology at Farmingdale State College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to and excellence in teaching, with the ability to develop and deliver courses across all areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology. Courses will be primarily at the undergraduate level but may include some graduate level courses. All faculty members at Farmingdale State College have three workload components: teaching, research and scholarly activity, and service. Candidates should have a research agenda that complements their area of academic specialty resulting in peer-reviewed publications, which are necessary for promotion and tenure at Farmingdale State College. We are also interested in candidates with a history of, or interest in, pursuing external funding for their research. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching. The service component of the workload includes student advising and participation on committees. The department supports multiple areas of specialization, including Radio Frequency (RF) Technology. A new RF/Microwave laboratory, equipped with C-Band and Ka-Band network analyzers, power meters, and spectrum analyzers is established. Thus, faculty with expertise in this area will have access to state-of-the-art equipment for both instruction and research. Candidates must possess outstanding written and oral communication skills, and must be committed to the continuous improvement process and outcome-based assessment of the EET programs to maintain ABET accreditation. Teaching assignments will include both day and evening classes, as well as possible online and/or hybrid course formats. Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered, provided the doctorate is conferred by the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct scholarship in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Industrial and/or teaching experience at the College level in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Electrical/Computer Engineering Technology.
  • Research or teaching expertise in semiconductors, RF, or microwave technology.
  • Prior experience in course and/or program development.
