About The Position

The University of Arkansas is seeking an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Responsibilities include teaching, research, and service. The successful candidate will conduct research leading to scholarly publications in power and energy systems, develop graduate and undergraduate courses, provide curriculum material, construct syllabi, provide classroom instruction, write and administer exams, prepare and evaluate students, mentor students, and serve on various faculty and student-oriented committees. The position requires regular attendance and the ability to maintain collegial relationships.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution of higher education, conferred by the start of employment.
  • Research expertise in areas of power and energy systems, covering theoretical, simulations, and experimental aspects.
  • Promising track record in scholarship through refereed publications in international conferences and/or journals.
  • Experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.

Nice To Haves

  • Significant theoretical and/or experimental contributions to electric power systems, system operation, planning and optimization, power system protection and reliability, renewable energy systems, smart grid, grid-edge power electronics, grid-forming inverters, analytical methods and computational tools for large-scale electric power systems.
  • Experience teaching power systems, electric circuits, control, energy conversion, or related courses in an accredited higher education environment.
  • Experience in mentoring students.
  • Experience in writing grant proposals.

Responsibilities
