About The Position

The Economics Department at the State University of New York College at Cortland welcomes applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in heterodox political economy beginning Fall 2026 to work with undergraduate majors in Business Economics, Economics, and Political Economy. Teaching responsibilities will include principles and intermediate courses, as well as a rotation of upper-level electives that reflect the candidate's research interests. Faculty are required to sustain an active research agenda, student advisement and service to the department and college to support an equitable and diverse scholarly environment. The successful candidate will become a part of our dynamic and expanding Economics Department, comprised of over 600 undergraduate majors. Our diverse curriculum supports majors in economics and business economics, as well as our emerging interdisciplinary programs in entrepreneurship and healthcare management. Requirements

  • Candidate must possess Ph.D. or if ABD, degree must be completed by time of initial review for reappointment. Please note: Reappointment will not be considered without a completed Ph.D. prior to review date.
  • Expertise in the field of economics.
  • Demonstrated potential for scholarly activity.

  • Expertise in Labor, Law and Political Economy, Technology/AI/digital economy and/or Public Policy.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with college teaching experience, demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching students from diverse backgrounds, and demonstrated potential for scholarship.
  • We are also looking for candidates with the potential to bring creative approaches to teaching and have interest in mentoring and collaborating with undergraduate researchers.

Responsibilities
