About The Position

To provide ongoing curriculum development, implementation and evaluation of classroom and clinical instruction, participation in student advising, and registration. Full and active participation in the Department of Nursing committees to assist in the continued evolution of the Department of Nursing is an integral part of the position.

Requirements

  • Must be a DNP prepared FNP, with education from an accredited institution.
  • Self-directed and organized.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Canvas, and the internet.
  • Must hold an unencumbered NY State Professional RN license.
  • Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer or Health Provider.
  • Family Nurse Practitioner Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the highest level of professional integrity at all times and demonstrate a commitment to professional nursing.
  • Have a frequent and active presence on campus, be available for counseling and advising students, and participate in activities that promote interaction between students and the academic environment.
  • Meet the assigned course load and contact hours (18 per year) assigned by the Chairperson of the Program each semester/year.
  • Be on campus at least three full days per week.
  • Attend faculty meetings, college and departmental functions, and informational sessions.
  • Maintain punctuality and attendance to meet all assigned teaching commitments.
  • Make up any classes/clinical missed.
  • Post office hours for student availability, with a minimum of four hours per week.
  • Inform students of mid-term and end-term progress in advisement meetings.
  • File a course outline (syllabus) for every course with the Chairperson, including detailed objectives, main topics of study, requirements and assignments, test dates, and evaluation criteria.
  • Review rosters provided by the Office of the Registrar and report discrepancies.
  • Complete all attendance rosters sent out by the Registrar and verify attendance of all students.
  • Submit all final grades to the Registrar in a timely manner.
  • Act as Course Coordinator for courses with a clinical laboratory, managing curriculum planning, syllabus development, and correspondence with clinical instructors and facilities.
  • Participate in committees, including preparation, writing, and editing of Accreditation reports, candidacy drafts, and self-study reports.
