About The Position

The Assistant Professor position in Dental Hygiene at Farmingdale State College is a full-time, tenure-track role beginning in the fall of 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching didactic and clinical courses in dental hygiene across various programs, including the Associate in Applied Science Degree Program and Bachelor Degree Completion Program. The role also includes curriculum development, student advisement, and participation in departmental and college-wide service activities. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusivity in their teaching and service activities.

Requirements

• Master's degree in dental hygiene or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
• Current license to practice dental hygiene in New York State.
• Current certification in local infiltration anesthesia/nitrous oxide analgesia in New York State.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support.
• Ability to teach at the college level.
• Minimum of five years of clinical private practice experience.
• Current membership in dental hygiene related professional associations (ADHA).

Responsibilities

• Assume a full teaching assignment in didactic and clinical dental hygiene courses.
• Engage in curriculum development and scholarly activities.
• Provide student advisement and participate in departmental and college-wide service.
• Potentially coordinate clinical responsibilities based on departmental needs.
• Teach in multiple formats including hybrid, online, and traditional face-to-face classes.
