The Department of Computer Science in Mercer University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is accepting applications for a tenure track Cybersecurity faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment will be effective August 1, 2026. We are seeking a teacher-scholar with a strong commitment to undergraduate education who is eager to shape the future of cybersecurity. This position offers the opportunity to inspire and mentor talented students while contributing to a growing and nationally recognized program.

  • Teach undergraduate courses in cybersecurity, information technology, and potentially computer science.
  • Guide undergraduate students through impactful research projects.
  • Assist with advising and mentoring students, including leadership of our Cyber Defense Competition Team.
  • Support our continued recognition as an NSA Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense.
  • Build and sustain a vibrant research agenda that aligns with your expertise and interests.
  • Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, computer engineering, or in a closely related area.
  • Applicants who are ABD will be considered at the rank of Instructor until completion of the Ph.D.
  • Applicants must have a demonstrated academic and/or professional background in cybersecurity.
  • Experience with secure software development, cloud, containers, automation and orchestration, ethical hacking, virtualization, cybersecurity governance, IoT, server administration, and cyber analytics.
  • Hands-on, applied approaches to teaching complex topics.
