About The Position

Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design seeks a Department Coordinator for its Foundations hybrid degree programs. The coordinator is a teaching faculty member who serves students, chair, and program leads, working closely with faculty and students. This role collaborates with department leadership to improve student learning and success, support faculty, and perform duties as assigned by the Chair and Program Lead.

Requirements

  • A Master of Fine Arts in Fine Arts or related field
  • University-level teaching experience
  • A strong knowledge base in 3D design, Sculpture, 2D Design, and wood shop fabrication
  • Experience in managing studio spaces
  • A willingness to work collaboratively with faculty, mentor students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures and academic backgrounds
  • Must live in or relocate to the Denver Metro area

  • Demonstrated and significant knowledge base in digital fabrication or ceramics.
  • Evidence of a current, dynamic professional practice and engagement in the field through exhibitions, publications, or similar endeavors

Responsibilities

  • Teach a minimum of 1 class totaling between 12-20 students within each 8-week term for five terms.
  • Oversee inventories, orders, equipment repairs, and track consumables of the studios.
  • Create, implement, and administer safety protocols through education and training of all faculty and students.
  • Establish and track lab utilization metrics of students, faculty, and staff and workshop engagement.
  • Hold weekly open-studio hours supporting student and faculty learning.
  • Coordinate, develop, and conduct co-curricular workshops for students and faculty.
  • Assist faculty and students with fabrication and design questions during lab hours and assigned class times.
  • Develop and create video tutorials as needed for studio instruction.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned work-study students.
  • Orient and train the members of the faculty, staff, students, and the greater RMCAD community on the procedures specific to the workshops and designated studio spaces.
  • Mentor and assist students working on events or activities.
  • Evidence of ongoing scholarship in the field (curation, conference presentations, publications, etc.).
  • Evidence of an active studio practice through creation and exhibition.
