About The Position

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry ( https://www.chem.udel.edu/ ), in the College of Arts and Sciences, invites applications for a continuing track (CT) assistant professor-level position in Chemistry and Biochemistry, starting August 16, 2026. This position offers a strong, supportive setting for a teaching-intensive role in the environment of a highly active research department that supports robust undergraduate and graduate educational programs. The successful candidate will have expertise in teaching introductory chemistry classes to chemistry and biochemistry majors and non-majors, including core concepts in introductory chemistry. Competence and/or experience teaching courses that support the department’s biochemistry and/or inorganic curriculum will also be considered favorably. Requirements

  • Completed a doctoral or equivalent degree in chemistry or a related field, prior to appointment
  • Significant teaching interest and experience
  • Expertise in teaching introductory-to-intermediate chemistry classes to chemistry and biochemistry majors and non-majors, including core concepts in introductory chemistry

Nice To Haves

  • Competence and/or experience in teaching the above concepts as well as biochemistry and/or inorganic chemistry materials to upper-level students
  • Postdoctoral experience with significant publications in research or education
  • Demonstrable commitment to mentoring

Responsibilities

  • Teaching introductory-to-intermediate level courses
  • Development of curriculum
  • Coordination of lectures with associated laboratory sections
  • Administrative tasks
  • Contribute to departmental committees that support department functions and academic programs
  • Make contributions to departmental teaching and research workshops, retreats, seminars, etc.
  • College and University service
  • Discipline-based education research and advisement responsibilities
