About The Position

The Master of Social Work (MSW) Program [https://www.cehd.udel.edu/socialwork/] at the University of Delaware invites applications for an outstanding instructor and leader in Social Work education. The continuing track at the University of Delaware (see HERE [https://facultyhandbook.udel.edu/handbook/416-non%E2%80%90tenure-track-faculty] for a description of the continuing track at UD), includes opportunities for teaching, service, and leadership responsibilities in the program, gaining promotion, taking sabbatical, and enjoying the security of a multi-year appointment. This 9-month continuing track faculty position is at the Assistant Professor level. The position includes classroom teaching, administrative leadership as the MSW Program Coordinator, and service responsibilities. Qualified candidates should be interested in establishing a long-term career at the University of Delaware. The start date of the position is July 1, 2026. We are seeking applicants with a record of, or potential for, excellence in teaching, leadership, and service in social work. Preference will be given to candidates whose interests enhance the mission of the MSW Program: https://www.cehd.udel.edu/socialwork/ [https://www.cehd.udel.edu/socialwork/]. The MSW Program ascribes to education policy and accreditation standards (EPAS) established by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The MSW Program is particularly interested in candidates who have exhibited a commitment to these social work competencies in teaching, service, and practice. Candidates are expected to have direct practice experience, graduate level teaching and curriculum experience, and served in formal leadership roles. Teaching needs in the program are in the areas of direct clinical practice and research. Leadership needs are as MSW Coordinator to help with strategic planning, administrative guidance, student engagement, and opportunities for innovation within a rigorous and community engaged graduate social work program focused on academic excellence and community impact.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree from an accredited social work program approved by CSWE.
  • Two or more years of post MSW experience in a social work role.
  • Graduate level social work teaching as the lead instructor.
  • A demonstrated ability to develop positive relationships among an interdisciplinary team to support mutual graduate education goals.
  • Administrative leadership experience with supervisory responsibilities and committee leadership.
  • Ability to create, maintain, and retrieve and report out information from databases and electronic records to assist with real-time decision-making.
  • Eligibility for post MSW licensure as a social worker in Delaware.
  • A record of excellence in teaching, leadership, and service in social work.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience at the graduate level in social work that includes clinical direct practice coursework and/or research.
  • Teaching experience in graduate level social work with in-person and online classes.
  • Two years of university administrative leadership and supervisory experience.
  • LMSW or LCSW licensure eligible as a social worker in Delaware.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include teaching and oversight of graduate courses in the MSW program
  • help with recruiting, orienting, matriculating, tracking, and advising graduate students
  • assuming a collaborative leadership role in the development, growth, and ongoing outcomes measurement and data-informed tracking of the MSW program
  • Individuals are also expected to work in collaboration with the Program Director and Practicum Director, serve as a visible representative and liaison for the MSW program, and engage community agency partners.
  • This role includes active participation in committees and advisory groups as appropriate in service to the MSW program, College, University, state of Delaware, and social work profession.
