About The Position

This is a faculty position responsible to the Chair of the Department of Anatomic Pathology, who reports to the Head of the Division of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. Requirements

• MD or DO degree in a field appropriate to department mission.
• Licensed to practice in Texas.
• Must be Board certified (or obtained within departmental timeline), unless exempted.
• Current CPR, BCLS, or ACLS certification.
• Generally 2 years as Instructor or 5 years post clinical degree with any combination of time as a clinician, clinical scientist or GME trainee.

Responsibilities

• Assume diagnostic patient care responsibilities by serving as a surgical pathologist in subspecialty rotations.
• Develop and implement basic or clinical and translational research in the subspecialty field of surgical pathology.
• Communicate effectively with professional, technical, and administrative levels.
• Visually review, evaluate, and interpret medical records, patient data, and specimens.
• Ensure compliance with CAP, JCAHO, FDA, Medicare, and CLIA standards.
• Provide theoretical guidance and technical assistance to laboratory personnel.
• Participate in institutional activities and extramural service, including lectures and conferences.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the field of Neuropathology and general surgical pathology.
