About The Position

The Department of Chemistry at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites outstanding applicants for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank starting in August 2026. We welcome candidates specializing in organic chemistry who have the potential to establish a highly visible undergraduate research program that enhances the department's existing strengths while expanding our expertise in organic synthesis. We invite applicants who are committed to high-quality teaching and deep student engagement at all levels of the curriculum at a public, primarily undergraduate, residential institution. The primary teaching responsibility will be courses in the organic chemistry curriculum, in addition to developing innovative upper-level courses that diversify and enrich the department's offerings. The successful candidates will also demonstrate a commitment to inclusive excellence in STEM and higher education. A doctoral degree in organic chemistry or a closely related discipline is required for this position. While postdoctoral experience is preferred, candidates from diverse professional backgrounds will also be considered. Candidates who are ABD (all but dissertation) will be eligible only if they complete their degree before the start date. A dedicated research laboratory space and competitive start-up funds will be provided.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in organic chemistry or a closely related discipline.

  • Ability to establish a productive research program involving undergraduates.
  • Postdoctoral experience preferred but not required.
  • Candidates who are ABD must complete their degree before the start date.
