About The Position

The Art and Art History Department at St. Catherine University is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor in Ceramics, starting August 2025. Requirements

• MFA with a consistent record of active engagement in the discipline.
• Broad knowledge of Ceramics.
• Ability to articulate contemporary, historical, and conceptual issues.

Responsibilities

• Teach six sections (24 credits) per academic year, including ceramics, wheel throwing, 3-D design, and a department seminar course.
• Engage in interdisciplinary teaching and suggest advanced topics courses for students from various majors.
• Mentor and advise students in the Ceramics discipline and participate in student portfolio reviews.
• Advise the Clay Club and oversee the sculpture and ceramics studios, including managing electric and gas kilns.
• Collaborate with department colleagues on program and curriculum development, focusing on dismantling racism and oppression in art education.
• Develop coursework and pedagogies that engage a diverse student body.
