About The Position

The Department of Biology at High Point University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Biology position with an expected start date of August 2026. This position is a 9-month, non-tenure track position eligible for promotion to Associate and Professor ranks and multi-year contract extensions. Responsibilities include teaching introductory and advanced biology courses with the opportunity to offer interdisciplinary honors and general education courses. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and experiential learning. The Assistant Professor will also be responsible for developing an active research program involving undergraduate students. Successful candidates will have access to startup and institutional research and professional development funding. Applications from a wide range of disciplines within Biology are welcomed for this position. The department would value, but is not exclusively interested in, expertise in quantitative biology, including subfields such as computational biology, biostatistics, population biology, or bioinformatics that complement the candidate’s primary research area. A Ph.D. in biology or a closely related field is required, and post-doctoral experience is preferred. The position includes laboratory space in our state-of-the-art Wanek School of Natural Sciences, which houses the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Neuroscience and Physics. The Biology Department offers majors and minors in biology. The Biology Department offers a B.S., a B.A., and minor in biology. Biology courses additionally serve as foundational elements of applied and health science degrees at High Point University. The Assistant Professor will be responsible for advising biology majors, and for service to the department, school, and university.

Requirements
