About The Position

This is a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Biology. The appointee is expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program, publish in peer-reviewed journals and teach effectively across the biology curriculum with special emphasis on Animal Physiology related courses. Additional responsibilities include service to the department, university, and discipline. The successful candidate will also involve undergraduate and graduate students in research. Preference will be given to candidates who have postdoctoral experience and whose research expertise can be leveraged towards advanced courses in Physiology utilizing molecular tools.

Requirements

  • A PhD in Biology or related field
  • An established record of publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals that are listed by the Web of Science.
  • Willingness to develop and teach courses in area of research expertise and also Anatomy and Physiology, Upper-level Physiology
  • Strong ability to perform research in area of specialty.
  • Expected success in securing extramural funding.
  • Strong ability to teach high quality Biology courses across the curriculum.
  • Demonstrated commitment to service to the university, profession, and community.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Able to lift 25 lbs and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings.
