Oglethorpe University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Biology to begin August 2026. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses across the biology curriculum, including introductory-level biology and statistics courses, upper-level electives in their area of expertise, and a senior-level capstone. Teaching responsibilities within the biology program will be focused on courses in the major serving pre-health students such as Anatomy & Physiology I & II and an introductory course in Nutrition. The successful candidate should also be prepared to contribute to the Oglethorpe Core Program by teaching a biology-themed general education course, Science and Human Nature. An Assistant Professor of Biology typically teaches the equivalent of two lectures and two labs per semester on a ten-month contract. Tenure-track faculty in the Division of Natural Sciences are expected to maintain an active research program that engages undergraduate student researchers. Research expectations are balanced with teaching responsibilities and service commitments. This position will require a service commitment to develop and oversee a pre-health advising program for undergraduate students. Working with colleagues in the Division of Natural Sciences, the successful candidate will develop cocurricular programming and an advising system to support pre-health students. This work will be supported by mentorship from senior faculty and appropriate external training and professional development.
