About The Position

Riverside Community College District is seeking two full-time Assistant Professors in Biology. The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching General Biology and may also teach courses in Anatomy & Physiology and/or Microbiology. The role emphasizes the importance of equity in education, catering to a diverse student population, and requires effective communication of complex biological concepts to community college students.

Requirements

• Master's degree in any biological science; OR Bachelor's in any biological science AND Master's in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science; OR the Equivalent. A Ph.D. is preferred.
• Two or more years of combined teaching experience in general biology, anatomy and physiology, and/or microbiology at the college level.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with large programs requiring coordination between instructors.
• Experience in developing curriculum and maintaining course outlines.

Responsibilities

• Fulfill the duties of a full-time instructor, including holding weekly office hours and completing 24 hours of 'flex credit' annually.
• Teach lecture and laboratory classes in assigned disciplines.
• Participate in outcomes assessment work.
• Conduct classes, prepare lessons, evaluate students, hold office hours, and engage in committee work and curriculum development.
• Engage in institutional service activities and participate in decision-making processes regarding curriculum and program development.
• Maintain professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the position.
