The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Cincinnati seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Computational Neuroscience. This position will interact with and complement the department's research foci in Sensory Biology and Behavior, Molecular Biology, Genetics, and Physiology, and Ecology, Evolution, & Conservation. The successful candidate will develop and maintain an externally funded, internationally recognized research program in computational neuroscience, focusing on areas such as modeling and method development for analyzing nervous system function, computation and function of sensory systems, theoretical analysis of neural and behavioral processes, and the use of robotics, big data, machine learning, and/or artificial intelligence in research. The position also involves teaching existing and/or developing new courses at undergraduate and/or graduate levels and supervising MS and PhD students.

  • Develop and maintain an externally funded, internationally recognized research program in computational neuroscience.
  • Teach existing and/or develop new courses such as neuroscience, computational biology, and/or biological statistics at undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
  • Direct supervision of MS and PhD students, ensuring progress in research and development of dissertation projects.
  • Participate in relevant service to the department, college, university, and profession, including serving on committees and contributing to the development of biology-related programs.
  • A PhD in Biology, Neuroscience, or a closely related field.
  • Relevant expertise in computational neuroscience as demonstrated by at least 2 peer-reviewed publications.
  • Six (6) months of postdoctoral or other professional research experience following PhD completion.
