The Assistant Professor in Occupational Therapy at Midwestern University is responsible for teaching and facilitating learning within the occupational therapy curriculum. This role requires the faculty member to conduct class sessions and design learning activities that promote student mastery and success in both their professional and personal development. The faculty member will primarily plan, develop, and teach courses in a manner that enhances student learning, while also engaging in academic advising and student development. Participation in continuing education opportunities is essential to maintain currency in course content areas, and involvement in curricular activities such as colloquia, seminars, and curriculum development is expected. In addition to teaching, the faculty member is expected to engage in personal, scholarly, and professional development, as well as contribute to institutional and community service. The essential job functions include teaching assigned courses in accordance with the course syllabus and College policy, developing and utilizing a syllabus for each course, and demonstrating expertise in occupational therapy practice and science. Continuous improvement of instructional quality through innovative methodologies and techniques is crucial. The faculty member will evaluate students using valid and reliable means, maintain professional relationships with students and colleagues, and provide access to students through regular office hours and electronic communication. In terms of scholarship, the faculty member is expected to pursue ongoing scholarly growth, engage in creative activities, and mentor student research projects. Institutional and community service responsibilities include participating in scheduled service activities, advising students, and maintaining program accreditation standards. Personal and professional development is also emphasized, with the faculty member establishing annual objectives and maintaining professional standards of competence and ethical behavior. Residence in Arizona and in-person teaching are required for this position.
