The Department of Physiology in the School of Medicine at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA invites applications for an academic faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor from outstanding candidates with a Ph.D., M.D. (or equivalent) degree. Rank and track dependent on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Special consideration will be given to candidates with an exceptional record of research accomplishments in Alcohol-related Pathophysiology to promote collaboration with researchers associated with the Comprehensive Alcohol Research Center and the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Center of Excellence. Areas of research interest desired include alcohol associated dysbiosis, gut-liver axis, gut-brain axis, and cardiometabolic comorbidities. Applicants are expected to maintain an active, extramural-funded research program, engage in collaborative research, mentor students and fellows, and participate in graduate and undergraduate teaching programs. Opportunities are available for interaction with the Centers of Excellence in Cancer, Cardiovascular Biology, and Neuroscience, which are supported by a state-of-the-art infrastructure including access to core laboratories in genomics, proteomics, imaging, and flow cytometry. The position will be supported by designated laboratory space, competitive salary and start-up package.
