About The Position

The Department of Pediatrics at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans is seeking an academic Pediatric Palliative Care physician to join our faculty group at Children’s Hospital New Orleans. Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor (non-tenure, clinical track) depending on prior experience. The Department of Pediatrics at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans is dedicated to excellence in patient care, scholarly work, mastery in teaching and continuous learning. The Department boasts approximately eighty faculty members representing all pediatric sub-specialties. Training programs include an annual medical school class of two hundred and approximately one hundred post-graduate trainees in categorical pediatrics, medicine-pediatrics, child neurology, combined pediatrics and emergency medicine and most pediatric sub-specialty fellowship areas. The successful candidate will participate in a broad range of activities. Primary clinical responsibilities of the position will occur at Children’s Hospital New Orleans. Excellent communication skills are required. This is a challenging and interesting position involving teaching responsibilities with medical students, residents, and other learners from the multi-disciplinary LSUHSC community. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the advancement of scholarly or educational activities within the Department. There are abundant opportunities for educational, clinical, translational, quality and outcomes research initiatives across the health sciences center. The Department of Pediatrics is located predominantly at Children’s Hospital New Orleans. Children’s Hospital is Louisiana’s only free-standing children’s hospital. The 247-bed tertiary care teaching and clinical care complex is located in the heart of New Orleans. Children’s Hospital has recently completed the major phases of a 5-year and $225 million expansion project.
