About The Position

The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans, is seeking an academic Neonatologist to join our 14-member faculty group. The Division of Neonatology provides inpatient care for sick infants at Children’s Hospital New Orleans and seven other community hospitals in the region in conjunction with colleagues from Tulane University School of Medicine. We are involved in the education of the largest group of medical students, pediatric residents, and neonatology fellows in the state. The Department of Pediatrics at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans is dedicated to excellence in patient care, mastery in teaching and continuous learning. The Department boasts approximately eighty faculty members representing all pediatric sub-specialties. Training programs include an annual medical school class of two hundred students and approximately one hundred post-graduate trainees in categorical pediatrics, medicine-pediatrics, child neurology, combined pediatrics and emergency medicine and most pediatric sub-specialty fellowship areas. Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (non-tenure, clinical track), with rank to be determined by the candidate’s credentials and experience. The successful candidate will participate in a broad range of activities. Primary clinical responsibilities of the position include patient care in a variety of settings. Educational responsibilities include supervision and instruction of medical students, residents, fellows and other learners from the multi-disciplinary LSUHSC community. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the advancement of scholarly or educational activities within the Department. There are abundant opportunities for educational, clinical, translational, and quality and outcomes research initiatives across the health sciences center. The Department of Pediatrics is located predominantly at Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, Louisiana’s only free-standing children’s hospital. The 257-bed tertiary care teaching and clinical care complex is located in the heart of New Orleans. Children’s has recently completed a 5-year $300 million dollar hospital expansion project.
