About The Position

The Associate Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AAFWC) position is a 12-month faculty tenure-eligible position in the Occupational Therapy department at Chatham University. This role includes administrative management of clinical placements for the entry-level occupational therapy doctorate (ELOTD) program in collaboration with the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC), teaching courses related to fieldwork and topics of clinical expertise, advising, and engaging in service and scholarship as outlined in the Faculty Manual. The AAFWC collaborates closely with the AFWC & Doctoral Capstone Coordinator to ensure institutional compliance with clinical and community partners. This position requires routine on-campus presence, with some opportunities for remote work, and may involve evening/weekend commitments and travel to clinical sites.

Requirements

  • Initial certification as an OTR (occupational therapist, Registered) and current licensure (or eligibility) as an occupational therapist in Pennsylvania.
  • Terminal Doctoral degree (Ex: post-professional OTD, PhD, ScD, EdD)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ clinical experience as an occupational therapist
  • Prior experience as an Academic Fieldwork Coordinator or Fieldwork Educator
  • Evidence of effective professional collaboration or partnerships
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to working with individuals of varied backgrounds, identities, and perspectives
  • High emotional intelligence, excellent listening skills, and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion, diplomacy, and judgment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in experiential learning, innovative program development, or distance education
  • Experience teaching or mentoring at the graduate level

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee (including prepare, assign, supervise, and evaluate) the Level I student fieldwork experiences within the curriculum in collaboration with the AFWC.
  • Serve as a liaison between Chatham University and the affiliated fieldwork sites.
  • Support Clinical Fieldwork Educators and foster effective partnerships.
  • Coordinate the annual Chatham Partner Appreciation event with the AFWC and Doctoral Capstone Coordinator.
  • Recruit and develop fieldwork Level I & II sites as needed in collaboration with AFWC.
  • Complete Level I & II clinical site visits as needed.
  • Assist the AFWC in ensuring compliance with accreditation standards for fieldwork.
  • Support preparation of accreditation, re-accreditation, and other program reports.
  • Collaborate with administrative staff to track student requirements and establish site contracts.
  • Prepare and teach occupational therapy coursework related to fieldwork and areas of clinical expertise.
  • Advise students academically, for fieldwork experiences, and in capstone mentorship roles.
  • Participate in curriculum development, program evaluation, and admissions activities as requested.
  • Engage in departmental, university, and professional service and scholarly activities within areas of clinical/educational expertise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
