About The Position

Tennessee State University Department of Art & Design invites applications for the Assistant Professor position. This is a tenure-track position that will begin fall 2026. Teach undergraduate courses in graphic design at the introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels. Additional duties include curriculum development, advising, teaching general education courses, public service projects, department and university service.

Requirements

• A terminal degree (i.e. MFA) or equivalent in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, User Experience Design, Media Design or in a related discipline by appointment start date is required.
• Candidate must be proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite programs, including experience with UX/UI applications.
• Strong typography skills are required.
• We are seeking a creative individual who has a commitment to academic excellence and maintains an active research agenda and professional practice.
• Successful candidates will also have strong organizational and communication skills.
