The successful candidate will be able to teach mathematics courses for general education as well as courses in the mathematics majors. This is a tenure-track, nine-month faculty position in applied mathematics in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The department has courses in operations research and optimization modeling, which the successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the ability to teach. The position is based at the Stevens Point campus and involves courses primarily taught in person, but there is a possibility of teaching assignments at the Wausau campus or Marshfield campus, and of online or hybrid courses. An appropriate terminal degree, m aintaining an active research agenda and providing leadership and service to the university, community, and profession are required for tenure. A typical teaching load is twelve credit hours per semester. Full position description is available upon request.

  • Teach mathematics courses for general education as well as courses in the mathematics majors.
  • Teach courses in operations research and optimization modeling.

  • Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in mathematics, operations research, or a related field, awarded before August 2026; or ABD may be acceptable at the rank of Instructor.
  • Experience and/or demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching .
  • Experience and/or demonstrated interest in operations research, optimization, or numerical methods.
  • Experience teaching diverse groups.
  • Experience teaching with current educational tools and methods.
  • Experience and/or demonstrated commitment to online course development and teaching.
  • Familiarity with modern computational software, especially for operations research, optimization or numerical methods.
  • Experience and/or interest in mentoring undergraduate research.
