About The Position

Full-time tenure-track or Professor of Practice faculty position in the Department of Accounting. in the College of Business. Please click the link for more information on our benefits.Office of Human Resources | Benefit Responsibilities The primary professional responsibilities of the Assistant Professor of Accounting Faculty Position is to provide outstanding teaching, scholarly research, and service to the Lewis and external communities. Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, and respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education. Essential Duties: Teach a variety of Accounting courses, both the undergraduate and graduate levels, in traditional, accelerated, hybrid and online formats. Undergraduate courses are taught on our Romeoville campus. Graduate courses are taught in the evening at our Romeoville and Oak Brook locations. Twenty Four (24) credit-hour teaching load per academic year. Tenure-Track faculty receive a six (6) credit hour course reduction in their initial year of appointment. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to impart Accounting concepts and theories to students and other vested parties. Establish and maintain office hours to assist students and foster positive interaction with colleagues and external parties. Advise undergraduate students on program progression and academic success. Additionally, mentor graduate and undergraduate students on professional development. Actively participate in College/University Committees, scholarly pursuits, student recruitment, and other various duties as assigned by the Dean and Department Chair. Knowledge of, and participation in, curriculum development and program assessment. Actively engage in the Accounting profession including current topics and trends within the field. Demonstrated abilities in establishing, growing and promoting undergraduate and graduate Accounting programs within the College, University and broader community.

Requirements

  • Candidates who earned doctorate in Accounting from an AACSB accredited institution will be considered for a tenure-track appointment.
  • Strong candidates who are ABD and nearing completion of their dissertation will be considered for a tenure-track appointment.
  • Strong candidates who have a Master's degree in accounting, an active CPA licensure (in good standing), and at least 10 years professional experience will be considered for appointment as a Professor of Practice.
  • Demonstrated evidence of successfully teaching of Accounting courses at the university level.
  • Adept at teaching courses in different modalities in person, hybrid, online and asynchronous.
  • Ability to establish productive and collaborative working relationships with other faculty and staff.
  • Active research and/or professional development interests.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusivity through demonstrated experience working with diverse populations.
  • A degree from an AACSB-accredited institution
