About The Position

As an Assistant Production Supervisor, you will assist the Production Supervisor in managing the employees within the department. You will also assist the Production Supervisor in ensuring work is being completed efficiently and effectively throughout the department. This position works Monday through Friday 3:45pm to 12:00am.

Requirements

  • 5 + years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment required.
  • 4+ years of direct people leadership experience in a manufacturing or production environment required.
  • 1+ years of experience in a union-represented facility required.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree or technical certification in business or related field preferred.
  • Experience leading teams in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Experience applying Lean manufacturing concepts preferred.
  • Proven success mentoring and developing teams preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and direct employees using effective performance management techniques, including establishing expectations and goals, providing recognition and feedback, and addressing performance problems.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve through root cause analysis.
  • Help in developing a continuous improvement culture.
  • Create growth plans for reports and engage all production employees.
  • Lead by example.
  • Coach, encourage, and develop employees according to their unique interests and strengths.
  • Empower employees to take responsibility for their career and performance.
  • Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members and the organization.
  • Have a presence on the shop floor to assist and guide leads and employees with daily tasks. (50%)
  • Monitor workflow processes while looking for improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze data, such as productivity reports, errors, and schedules, daily and make recommendations for improvement accordingly.
  • Partner with other branches and places of knowledge to learn Simpson practices and gain new ideas to put into practice.
  • Create reports, spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Design and drive programs which will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department. (50%)
