About The Position

Exential is seeking a skilled Assistant Production Manager to lead and support our 2nd‑shift production team in Tolleson, AZ. In this role, you will provide hands‑on leadership in job training, work assignments, and daily problem‑solving. You will collaborate closely with Team Leads to balance staffing resources, maintain continuous flow, and uphold Lean manufacturing principles. This position also includes performing quality checks, moving product through the work area, and supporting the preparation of finished goods for customers. You will monitor individual and department performance and apply accountability measures to ensure consistent results.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of steel fabrication, welding, or coating processes.
  • Formal training in Lean methods and continuous flow.
  • Demonstrated experience applying Lean principles, continuous flow, and CQI practices.
  • Proven ability to provide effective feedback and address performance issues.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules and job work orders.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and motivate employees.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions professionally.
  • Calm and composed when navigating disagreements or differing opinions.
  • Skilled at prioritizing and executing tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, team‑oriented setting.
  • Understanding of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

  • Experience in a high‑volume production environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of leads and production employees to meet daily production requirements.
  • Build and maintain an effective production staff through hiring, training, coaching, and motivation.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback; administer disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Foster a fair, productive, and team‑oriented work environment.
  • Track attendance and approve vacation and time‑off requests.
  • Review and approve weekly timecards.
  • Establish and enforce production and quality control standards.
  • Ensure safety standards are met and consistently followed.
  • Ensure employee adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Recommend improvements to enhance productivity, production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Facilitate communication between production departments regarding schedules and work orders to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate stewardship of company assets and resources.
  • Represent the company professionally at all times.
  • Motivate front‑line staff and maintain strong engagement within the assigned area.
  • Anticipate potential issues and communicate concerns to the Production Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
