About The Position

This position has a wide array of responsibilities within the Marketing Department. Qualified candidates must be outgoing with exceptional writing skills and shall be able to contribute to creative and concept development. The successful candidate must value accuracy and integrity in all assignments. This position reports directly to the Marketing Manager and is an on-site position at the Lottery offices in Cranston, RI.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communication studies, or related field required.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in marketing (5+ years is preferred).
  • Proficient experience with social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Graphic design knowledge is a plus and experience with Canva, and/or the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Illustrator is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Developing engaging written marketing copy.
  • Copy is used to inform the general public, communicate with active players, attract new players and increase participation with the Rhode Island Lottery brand all while maintaining compliance with our Responsible Gambling Marketing Code of Conduct.
  • Marketing copy includes: Press releases detailing winner details (game played, amount won, winner story, etc.), game changes, new game introductions, promotion information, and other releases as needed.
  • Radio scripts
  • Player marketing emails
  • Push Notifications
  • Digital advertising messaging
  • Website content
  • Interviewing prize winners.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date list of media contacts.
  • Managing the Rhode Island Lottery social media channels, which entails:
  • Creating and maintaining social media content
  • Developing and maintaining social media calendars
  • Monitoring social media activity and drafting responses as needed
  • Running occasional social media promotions
  • Identifying and managing influencer collaborations
  • Working collaboratively with other Marketing Department staff to develop marketing promotions and advertising campaigns.
  • Collaborating with other Marketing Department staff as well as other Departments in the Lottery to review sponsorship and partnership opportunities and brainstorm ideas.
  • Working promotional events during the regular business day and occasionally in the evenings and/or on weekends.
  • Promotional event responsibilities include selling tickets and interacting with players and retailers in a professional and friendly manner.
