Tallahassee State College (TSC), recently recognized as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges for 2025, is excited to announce a full-time opportunity for the position of Assistant Production Coordinator - P00592 in our College of Communications and Humanities, Theatre Program. Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience in technical theater productions and/or scene shop supervision.
  • Professional or non-professional related work experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • College coursework beyond the associates’ degree in a related field may substitute at a rate of thirty (30) semester hours or forty-five (45) quarter hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
  • Required job duties are normally inside and require essential physical abilities such as lifting, carrying, pushing more than 50 pounds; walking standing; bending; stooping; good vision and hearing; reaching above shoulders; working with chemicals; etc.
  • Leadership, Communication, and Organization skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary contact in the absence of the Production Coordinator and answers technical questions about running an event and scheduling events.
  • Evaluates technical riders and set-up requests.
  • Serves as the primary shop and crew manager and supervises all phases of set and scenery construction, including basic painting skills, surface prep, base coating, and some faux finishing.
  • Supervises all phases of lighting, including load-in and basic lighting console programming and provides basic electrical knowledge.
  • Supervises basic audio video practices, including mixing consoles, video projectors, microphones, and cabling practices and uses the computer to accomplish tasks as related to audio and video programs.
  • Supervises technical rehearsals, run of production, and clearing of stage.
  • Creates and reads construction drawings using computer software.
  • Maintains shop tools, inventory, and housekeeping.
  • Maintains auditorium equipment including sound, lights, audiovisual and computers.
  • Serves as the designer for sound, lights, and props as needed.
  • Works with outside events managers, crews and other college personnel and college functions in a professional manner.
  • Drives TSC vehicles, such as the operation of a 1 ton dump truck with manual transmission to transport productions equipment as needed.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
