Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on fast, friendly, and efficient service.
  • Assist customers with product suggestions and make intercom announcements as needed.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques through telephone interactions, in‑store announcements, and one‑on-one customer engagement.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls professionally; receive and resolve customer complaints, escalating to the Store Director when appropriate.
  • Assist with daily operational planning and monitor production processes to ensure adherence to company procedures and profitability goals.
  • Follow and uphold all department standards related to Fresh Made procedures, product freshness, and quality.
  • Implement correct product preparation techniques using equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and the Sterilox machine.
  • Trim, cut, wrap, tray, display, and water produce items.
  • Build and maintain produce displays; rotate stock and remove outdated or spoiled product.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the department, including the produce cooler and work areas.
  • Execute effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • May oversee the operation and maintenance of the Salad Bar and Fresh‑Made areas (where applicable).
  • Assist in maintaining proper inventory levels consistent with division directives, ensuring product quantity, quality, and freshness.
  • Stock, rotate, and organize product following company standards.
  • Control shrink and manage cost‑effective practices within the department.
  • Enforce proper code‑dating practices for all products in the department.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts every four weeks.
  • Monitor employee productivity and assist with evaluating performance.
  • Help schedule employees to ensure appropriate service levels and adequate coverage.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all department roles, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Train employees on department standards, policies, Fresh Made processes, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders through invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, and stocking/rotating items.
  • Adhere to all product temperature requirements, storage guidelines, and packaging standards.
  • Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.
  • Assist with completing and monitoring daily log sheets, Fresh Made production charts, sales and labor documentation, and other required reports.
  • Maintain knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Ensure proper temperature levels are consistently maintained for all products to meet safety and quality standards.
  • Perform all duties in alignment with company safety, sanitation, and compliance expectations.
