About The Position

ASSISTANT PRODUCE MANAGER — DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Department Leadership & Operations Assist the Produce Manager in daily department operations, including planning, organizing, and directing workflow. Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked produce department that meets company merchandising and presentation standards. Ensure proper product rotation, quality checks, and timely removal of unsellable product. Help manage shrink by monitoring handling, production levels, storage, and merchandising practices. Customer Service Provide exceptional customer service by engaging customers, answering questions, and offering product knowledge. Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally. Support a welcoming, service‑oriented environment for shoppers. Merchandising & Inventory Assist with merchandising plans, ad sets, and seasonal product placement. Help maintain accurate inventory levels, including ordering, receiving, and verifying shipments. Ensure proper signage, pricing accuracy, and promotional displays. Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, including: Food safety and sanitation OSHA and safety regulations Temperature logs and storage procedures Health department standards Maintain safe working conditions by identifying and reporting hazards. Team Support & Training Help oversee produce department staff, including task delegation and daily work direction. Support training of new associates on department standards, safety, quality checks, and customer service expectations. Assist with monitoring performance and helping reinforce proper procedures. Administrative & Support Duties Assist with scheduling, labor management, and production planning as assigned by the Produce Manager. Support execution of daily, weekly, and monthly operational checklists. Communicate department issues, product needs, and performance concerns to the Produce Manager and Store Director. Other Responsibilities Uphold company standards of honesty, integrity, and professionalism. Perform additional duties as assigned by store leadership. Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility).  Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis.   For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.
