Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 60 lbs frequently.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling loaded carts.
  • Manual dexterity and good eye‑hand coordination.
  • Able to stand for long periods and work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Knowledge of produce quality, perishability, sanitation requirements, and handling standards.
  • Basic math skills (weights, measures, shrink control).
  • Operates pallet jack, hand truck, knives, scissors, safety cutters, and Sterilox machine.
  • Must work nights, weekends, and holidays as required; consistent attendance is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with fast, friendly service.
  • Assists customers with product suggestions and basic product knowledge.
  • Makes in‑store intercom announcements when needed.
  • Responds appropriately to customer complaints and escalates issues to the Store Director when necessary.
  • Assists in planning daily operations and monitoring production processes.
  • Trims, cuts, wraps, trays, displays, rotates, and waters produce.
  • Builds produce displays, including seasonal and promotional sets.
  • Helps oversee the Salad Bar and Fresh‑Made areas (where applicable).
  • Ensures department cleanliness and professional presentation at all times.
  • Ensures all product meets company freshness, quality, and safety standards.
  • Rotates product using FIFO and removes outdated or spoiled items.
  • Maintains and organizes produce coolers.
  • Assists with controlling inventory levels to meet company directives.
  • Participates in physical inventory every 4 weeks.
  • Monitors productivity of department employees and provides coaching.
  • Assists with scheduling staff to ensure proper coverage and service levels.
  • Provides training on produce standards, policies, sanitation, and operational procedures.
  • Helps identify employees with potential for advancement.
  • Breaks down loads, verifies orders with invoices, inspects quality, and reports shortages.
  • Stocks and rotates product according to temperature and storage guidelines.
  • Accurately completes and reviews the Fresh‑Made Production Chart, daily logs, sales, labor sheets, and other required paperwork.
  • Ensures correct code‑dating, labeling, and adherence to retail regulations.
  • Maintains safety, sanitation, and cleanliness in coolers, prep areas, and sales floor.
  • Implements emergency procedures for equipment and software malfunctions.
  • Follows and enforces company grooming and dress code standards.
