The Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instructions and Assessments (9-12) is responsible for building and supporting an effective professional learning community that promotes excellence in teaching and student achievement. This role involves supervising assigned personnel and assisting the principal in the overall administration of the school's instructional curriculum. The Assistant Principal will also serve as the administrative head of the school in the absence of the principal and will be involved in various administrative and supervisory tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the school.

  • Supervises the preparation of student schedules.
  • Works with department heads, grade level teams, and the school improvements team in compiling the annual budget requests.
  • Monitors requisitions, supplies, textbooks, and equipment.
  • Conducts inventories, maintains records, and checks on receipt of such material.
  • Cooperates in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
  • Coordinates transportation, custodial, food service, and other support services.
  • Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance and works with the attendance supervisor for investigative follow-up actions.
  • Administers a program of student discipline and interacts with students to encourage positive performance.
  • Assists with staff evaluation.
  • Supervises staff attendance and assignment of substitute teachers.
  • Assists in scheduling special events during the school day.
  • Serves with parent, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational practices and related activities and objectives.
  • Provides general supervision to students to include extracurricular activities.
  • Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body, and deals with special cases as necessary.
  • Performs as an instructional leader in supporting the instruction of students.
  • Assists in the preparation of teacher and student handbooks and other school publications.
  • Assists with SST referrals and 504.
  • Attends staff meetings, professional learning, and training sessions, and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Abides by all Code of Ethics for Educators and Board policies.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
  • Clear, valid renewable Georgia certification in Educational Leadership Tier 1.
  • Minimum of a Master's degree in Educational Leadership.
  • Minimum of five years teaching experience.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and Board may deem acceptable and appropriate.
  • State Salary Schedule & Supplement
  • Contract terms of 230 days
