About The Position

The Assistant Principal supports the School Principal in providing instructional leadership, managing school operations, and promoting a safe, positive, and student-centered learning environment. The Assistant Principal collaborates with staff, students, families, and community partners to support student achievement, implement district initiatives, and ensure effective school operations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education required.
  • Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Missouri Principal Certification (or eligibility) preferred or required based on district requirements.
  • Bilingual ability (English required; Spanish preferred) is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Instructional Leadership
  • Support the Principal in providing instructional leadership and oversight of the school’s academic programs.
  • Assist in implementing district curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment systems.
  • Use student performance data to support school improvement efforts and instructional decision-making.
  • Promote high expectations for teaching and learning across all classrooms.
  • Support collaborative planning and professional learning communities focused on student achievement.
  • School Climate and Culture
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and student-centered school environment.
  • Support the implementation of schoolwide expectations for student behavior and engagement.
  • Promote practices that support equity, cultural responsiveness, and strong relationships within the school community.
  • Staff Supervision and Development
  • Assist in supervising, coaching, and evaluating certified and classified staff in accordance with district policies and evaluation systems.
  • Support professional development initiatives designed to improve instructional practice and staff effectiveness.
  • Participate in recruitment, selection, onboarding, and retention of school staff.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and support to staff to strengthen instructional and professional practices.
  • Student Support and Discipline
  • Support the implementation of student discipline procedures in a fair, consistent, and restorative manner.
  • Address student behavioral concerns and work collaboratively with staff and families to support student success.
  • Respond to student crises, safety concerns, and behavioral incidents as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate documentation related to student discipline and support services.
  • School Operations and Compliance
  • Assist in implementing district policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support coordination of school programs, schedules, and daily operations.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports, correspondence, and required documentation.
  • Support implementation of safety procedures and emergency preparedness plans, including drills and crisis response protocols.
  • Assume administrative responsibility for the school in the absence of the Principal.
  • Family and Community Engagement
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Build strong relationships with parents and guardians to support student learning and well-being.
  • Serve as a professional representative of the school and district within the community.
  • Additional Duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the effective operation of the school and district.
