About The Position

The Assistant Principal at Cristo Rey Kansas City, a diverse, mission-driven, Catholic high school located in the urban Kansas City community, serves as a collaborative leader who supports the school’s mission to educate students in a faith-filled, academically rigorous, and culturally responsive environment. The Assistant Principal works closely with the Principal and leadership team to ensure the holistic development of each student in alignment with Catholic values, the school’s vision, and the needs of the community.

  • Proven experience in managing student discipline with restorative and developmental approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect with low-income, urban students and families.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as the faith leader of the school.
  • Proven background in curriculum design, teacher supervision, and data analysis.
  • A commitment to personal and professional integrity and moral character

  • Fluency in Spanish preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Instructional Leadership
  • Foster a culture of academic excellence by supporting faculty in curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional best practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate classroom instruction to ensure effective teaching that meets the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Collaborate with the Principal to provide professional development opportunities aligned with Catholic identity, culturally responsive pedagogy, and data-driven instruction.
  • Support initiatives to integrate Catholic social teaching and faith formation into all aspects of school life.
  • Student Life and Discipline
  • Oversee student behavior, attendance, and discipline, ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Lead restorative practices and behavior management strategies that promote personal growth, accountability, and reconciliation.
  • Serve as a visible presence in hallways, classrooms, and school events, building positive relationships with students and families.
  • Support programs that promote student engagement, leadership, and service in the context of Catholic values.
  • Faith Formation and Catholic Identity
  • Collaborate with campus ministry to nurture the spiritual life of the school community through prayer, liturgy, and service.
  • Model Catholic values in decision-making, communication, and relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in the faith life of the school, including Masses, retreats, and community service events.
  • Operational Leadership
  • Assist the Principal in day-to-day school operations, including scheduling, supervision, and facilities coordination.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and procedures that promote equity, safety, and excellence.
  • Collaborate with the admissions and marketing teams to support enrollment and retention efforts.
  • Support emergency preparedness, safety protocols, and crisis management.
  • Family and Community Engagement
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with families, staff, and the broader community to support student success and school initiatives.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, discipline matters, and school events.
  • Represent the school at events, community meetings, and in public forums as needed.
