About The Position

Serves as a member of the school administrative team and assists the principal in developing and implementing policies, programs, curriculum activities, and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education Administration
  • Three to five years of experience as a classroom teacher or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's Licenese for School Administrator
  • Physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, calculators, cellular phones, etc.
  • Physically able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or composite characteristics (whether similar or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.
  • Ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions, assignments, or directions to subordinates or assistants.
  • Ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports, forms, charts, strategic plans, etc.
  • Ability to prepare correspondence, reports, forms, appraisals, charts, etc., using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.
  • Ability to speak before groups of people with poise, voice control, and confidence.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form; and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in Standard English.
  • Ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and subtract; multiply and divide; utilize decimals and percentages; and to apply the principles of algebra, descriptive statistics, statistical inference, and statistical theory.
  • Ability to inspect items for proper length, width, and shape.
  • Ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using office equipment.
  • Ability to handle a variety of items such as office equipment and hand tools.
  • Minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
  • Ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color.
  • Ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.
  • Adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
  • Ability to talk and hear: (Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear.)
  • Ability to communicate via telephone.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a member of the school administrative team and assists the principal in developing and implementing policies, programs, curriculum activities, and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member.
  • Assists with the development of a master schedule and related duty assignments; assists with student orientation and registration activities.
  • Assists in the preparation and management of the school budget and allocations according to local, state, and federal policies and regulations; works to involve school staff in setting budget priorities.
  • Provides direction to school staff in implementing goals and plans to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total school program.
  • Ensures that school-based staff are aware of Camden County School's board of education policies.
  • Ensures the school is compatible with the legal, financial, and organizational structure of the school system.
  • May be responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of a school discipline policy that is consistent with the Camden County Schools board policy on student rights and state law.
  • Ensures the School Improvement Plan is followed and reviewed throughout the school year; implements a system for regular self-assessment and following through by adjusting to the School Improvement Plan.
  • Assists with ensuring that instructional objectives for a given subject and/or classroom are developed and involves the faculty and others in the development of specific curricular objectives to meet the needs of the school program.
  • Supervises, observes, and evaluates the performance of school staff as directed by the Principal in a timely manner according to an annual observation/evaluation schedule; identifies effective teaching and learning strategies with the ability to convey the impact of effectiveness to the change process.
  • Maintains records relating to materials, supplies, and equipment which are necessary to carry out the daily school routine.
  • Attends meetings, professional development, and conferences to stay abreast of current policies and procedures relating to local, state, and federal policies and regulations for public schools.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with the parent-teacher organization and other community organizations to ensure ongoing, two-way communication and initiate activities which foster parent and community involvement.
  • Designs, delivers, and facilitates differentiated professional development opportunities that support school staff growth and improvement, including those that are new to the field.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
