About The Position

We are seeking a mission-driven, compassionate, and collaborative Assistant Principal to join our school leadership team and help create a supportive environment where both students and staff can grow and succeed. The Assistant Principal partners closely with the school leadership team to support daily school operations, instructional leadership, staff development, and student services.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Special Education
  • Type 75/General Administrative/Principal Endorsement Required
  • LBS1 Certification Required
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working with related service providers and a working knowledge of best practices for servicing students
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience required

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on the development and management of the school budget
  • Evaluate program needs, collaborate with DOS, and conduct hiring of program staff
  • Oversee purchases for the program
  • Collaborate and consult regularly with program staff regarding day-to-day needs of the program (staffing assignments, attendance, schedules, staff coverage, maintenance requests, student file compliance, etc.)
  • Manage parent contacts and address all concerns, consulting the DOS as needed for support
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with LEA representatives and necessary district staff
  • Facilitate team meetings to share new information, discuss student concerns, parent issues, and staff concerns
  • Participate in IEP’s, Eligibilities, and Check-In Meetings for students as needed
  • Consult with DOS regarding program progress, concerns, and growth
  • Collaborate with the admissions team to determine student eligibility for requested program
  • Serve as a consultant to Elim staff to address and/or support program specific concerns
  • Collaborate with maintenance team to ensure physical space is safe and appropriate
  • Consult with the transportation team and troubleshot transportation issues
  • Coordinate all relevant related service schedules, assuring IEP minutes are met
  • Support therapist with division and management of caseloads
  • Ensure that staff understand Shared Expectations, are appropriately supported, and implementing outcome driven best practices
  • Oversee daily interactions and activities and give feedback to staff
  • Respond to program request for assistance with students as needed
  • Conduct performance evaluations for all supervised staff
  • Enforce policies and procedures
  • Participate in ongoing training and research across disciplines to stay informed on current literature and best practices related to servicing students with significant developmental disabilities
  • Collaborate and consult with members of the curriculum department for support implementing approved curriculum
  • Provide professional development to staff, as needed, to improve professional practices
  • Maintain professionalism by modeling appropriate behavior
  • Strictly adhere to confidentiality requirements
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-service activities (as assigned) and attend training classes to increase professional knowledge.
  • Attend and assist with all school-related functions as requested
