Hartford Public Schools is seeking a dynamic Assistant Principal for the Pathways Academy of Technology and Design, serving grades 9-12. This position is ideal for an individual who is passionate about educating children and committed to closing achievement gaps while maximizing learning for all students. The Assistant Principal will play a crucial role in designing, organizing, and modeling effective instruction, communication, discipline, and intervention strategies. A strong focus on promoting a positive school culture and climate is essential, as the Assistant Principal will assume all administrative and supervisory duties in the absence of the Principal. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in providing strong instructional leadership that emphasizes student-centered learning. Candidates should demonstrate success in building strong relationships and engaging students, staff, and families to promote equity and excellence. Proficiency in using Google Suite, PowerSchool, and Microsoft Office Suite is essential for this role. The Assistant Principal will be responsible for formulating school philosophy and policy, evaluating school programs and staff, and communicating these effectively to all stakeholders. They will work directly with instructional staff to improve programs for students and assess their needs to enhance instruction. In addition to these responsibilities, the Assistant Principal will define assignments and duties for specialized staff, notify the Principal of any vacancies or transfers, and recommend the best candidates for teaching positions. They will also organize staff for maximum effectiveness and high morale, ensure the school is community-oriented, and make budgetary recommendations. The role requires timely reporting, effective supervision of personnel, and maintaining a liaison with public and private agencies. The Assistant Principal will assist in developing the Plan for School Excellence and Accountability and will be knowledgeable about potential sources of fiscal support for department programs. This position may require performing additional tasks assigned by the Principal or Superintendent's designee, which may extend beyond the regular workday.
