The Assistant Principal of Operations (APO) at KIPP Un Mundo Primary plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational excellence of the school. Responsibilities

  • Recruits, hires, onboards, develops, and leads a high-performing team.
  • Builds a strong and diverse team with an inclusive culture that brings out each team member's strengths.
  • Manages and develops others toward excellence in their role and with an eye toward their long-term development.
  • Establishes ongoing, regular cadence to facilitate collaboration, training, and support of the team.
  • Progress monitors execution of responsibilities of the team in order to drive operational excellence.
  • Creates and drives school-based strategies to ensure kids are in seats every day and year over year.
  • Partners with families to set attendance expectations for new and existing families.
  • Tracks data on a daily and cumulative basis and engages with key stakeholders weekly to identify trends and actions.
  • Ensures that substitutes are booked and given attendance roster materials.
  • Works with school lead teams to train, invest, motivate, and implement attendance procedures.
  • Partners with SRE team to execute student recruitment efforts.
  • Develops and executes school-based re-enrollment and cultivation plans.
  • Designs and continually evolves school-based operations policies and procedures such as arrival and dismissal.
  • Implements an ongoing monitoring system that reviews and addresses parent, teacher, and student feedback.
  • Completes safety drills and audits on a given schedule.
  • Manages operational components of field lessons.
  • Maintains regular communication rhythms with families regarding important school information.
  • Informs and manages the school budget in partnership with the School Leader.
  • Provides insight into non-personnel spending and data that can be used to create a budget that meets the school's current and future needs.
  • Leverages district tools to simplify purchasing and ensure school compliance with proper account management.
  • Partners with School Support Partners (SSP) to ensure campus is safe and well maintained.
  • Serves as Campus Incident Command Leader and main point of contact for campus emergency management and communication.
  • Ensures students and staff have needed access to appropriate software and hardware and technology issues are addressed promptly.
  • Provides day-to-day tactical support in the areas of Transportation and Child Nutrition.
