The Assistant Principal serves as an educational leader under the direction of the principal, assisting in the planning, coordination, and administration of activities and programs within one or more schools. This role involves providing leadership to staff, overseeing student enrollment and attendance, and ensuring the implementation of the district-approved curriculum while maintaining a positive school environment.

  • Assists in the planning, development, organization, coordination, and supervision of instructional programs and activities.
  • Interprets and implements the District approved curriculum program based on individual school needs.
  • Provides leadership to the professional staff in determining objectives and identifying school needs for developing plans.
  • Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school and assumes leadership in the principal's absence.
  • Supervises student enrollment, records, attendance, and health requirements.
  • Develops emergency plans in cooperation with staff and public safety agencies.
  • Maintains commitment to ongoing growth in self and others through professional development programs.
  • Relates to students with respect while enforcing a positive discipline policy.
  • Supervises reporting and monitoring of student attendance, including follow-up with students and parents.
  • Knowledgeable of local policies and state and federal laws relating to minors.
  • Master's degree or higher with successful teaching experience.
  • Must be NC Licensed in administration.
