About The Position

Assist the building principal on accountability for the educational, administrative, and supervisory functions in the school building. The assistant principal communicates and enforces directives and policies approved by the Board of Education and District Office to the building personnel, as delegated by the principal.

Requirements

  • Appropriate Arkansas license
  • LEADS credentialed
  • Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
  • Ability to manage budget and personnel
  • Ability to coordinate campus functions
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Calm and patient demeanor with students, parents and faculty

  • Coordinate campus functions

  • Ability to manage others in a non-coercive manner

Responsibilities

  • Assist in general supervision of building and grounds for safety and welfare of students and staff.
  • Assist the principal in building scheduling, fostering communication and implementing strategies to improve instruction.
  • Assist the principal in faculty supervision and evaluation in accordance with the Teacher Excellence Support System.
  • Share with principal the responsibility for administering the district's discipline and attendance policies through accepted building procedures.
  • Develop supervision schedules.
  • Provide leadership for maintaining an effective school climate.
  • Promote & ensure a high level of student attendance.
  • Provide administrative leadership in the absence of the principal.
  • Participate in parent-teacher-student conferences as need arises.
  • Assist in maintaining the 504 Program that is in compliance with the Office of Civil Rights.
  • Work directly with Alternative School staff to ensure efficiency.
  • Supervision at school events.
  • Provide leadership and support to the principal in the following organizational areas: Pre-school activities School handbooks Coordination of Parent Involvement Activities Curriculum organization In-service sessions for faculty
  • Performs all duties that are assigned by building principal and Central Office.
  • Belongs to appropriate educational organizations.
  • Shares professional growth activities with staff to improve educational program and better meet district goals and expectations.
  • Attend all meetings as directed by principal.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by principal and district office administration.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of teacher(s), counselor(s), librarian(s), and support staff.
