Requirements

  • Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate with an Administrator I endorsement.
  • Completion of the Aspiring Leader modules of Baltimore County Public Schools Leadership Development Program is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • A comparable out-of-state leadership or school building leadership certification transferrable to Maryland.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of pedagogy and public education administration.
  • Experience with the school improvement process and analysis of school performance data.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the principal in defining the school's mission and communicating goals and expectations of the total school program.
  • Provides instructional leadership for the implementation of the curriculum.
  • Coordinates the instructional program of the school in conjunction with appropriate staff.
  • Supervises the instructional program of the school.
  • Leads the process of continuous school improvement.
  • Monitors and assesses student achievement and participation outcomes.
  • Supervises and evaluates the effectiveness of all school personnel.
  • Creates a productive work climate by gaining cooperation of staff and students.
  • Administers and coordinates school discipline and maintains necessary discipline records.
  • Coordinates and supervises student activities.
  • Maintains attendance procedures.
  • Engages in professional activities that contribute to leadership development.
  • Determines and implements school organization, student placement, and evaluation.
  • Communicates effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Assists the principal with local school finances.
