Assistant Principal, BYU Online High School The BYU Online High School Assistant Principal reports directly to and works closely with the school principal. The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable, highly collaborative, and dedicated educator who works well with other teachers, administrators, students, and parents to ensure a positive, productive, and academically enriching semester-based high school experience. This is a year-round teaching position in an online teaching environment.

Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited university, AND a valid Professional Educator License for the State of Utah with a “License Area of Concentration” of “Administration” OR willingness to obtain a Utah license within 6 months.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD from an accredited university, AND a valid Professional Educator License for the State of Utah with a “License Area of Concentration” of “Administration” AND 5 years previous administrative experience in secondary administration.
  • English as a Second Language (ESL) Certification

Responsibilities

  • Ensure operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and effective implementation of administrative directives to support student success.
  • Promote academic excellence for all students, with emphasis on advanced and AP courses in science, math, English, and social studies.
  • Establish high, measurable expectations and provide targeted interventions and accommodations to ensure college and career readiness for all students, including those with disabilities.
  • Oversee hiring, supervision, evaluation, and ongoing professional development of adjunct teachers and staff.
  • Apply expertise in secondary curriculum, instruction, assessment, and data analysis to improve teaching and student outcomes.
  • Partner with the Principal, OHS faculty, CE administration, and service departments to implement policies and deliver mission-aligned educational excellence.
  • Engage in meetings and address concerns professionally, ensuring timely, fair, and effective communication and resolution.
  • Support and implement ESA vision, policies, and the ESA Improvement Plan in collaboration with leadership and administrative teams.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative school culture and ensure safe, effective learning environments with appropriate resources.
