The Assistant Preschool Teacher will aid in supervising and maintaining a safe, healthy, nurturing and orderly environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children. Assist with the development and implementation of a balanced, developmentally appropriate curriculum which meets the physical, intellectual, social and emotional needs of the individual children. Assist with the assessment of children's developmental progress. Complete documentation for parent information. Compile center records to comply with licensing and accreditation processes. Prepare classroom environment and instructional materials. Assist in the supervision of Work Study students .

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field or Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate preferred
  • 1-3 years job-related experience
  • Experience working with young children in a formal setting
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures to ensure that children are supervised and safe at all times; child development and education practices that support the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth of preschool children
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal skills involving a variety of stakeholders (children, parents, co-workers); independent decision and problem solving skills; sufficient emotional and social maturity to function in a crisis or stressful situation
  • Physically able to lift 40lbs; capable of meeting the physical demands of caring for young children, including bending and kneeling to children's eye level; flexibility in availability/responsibilities to assure appropriate staffing of the center
  • Pre-placement physical required
