About The Position

The YMCA Early Learning Center at Millworks (located on Bellingham's Waterfront) is currently seeking an Assistant Preschool Teacher to work in our transitional Preschool classroom with children ages 2 1/2 through 3. This is a full time position and applicants will be working Monday through Friday, 8-4:30. At the YMCA's Millworks Early Learning Center, we believe that early childhood is a time for curiosity, discovery, and joyful learning. Our mission is to nurture young minds and support families through high-quality, play-based early education rooted in the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Our young preschool classroom is home to 17 children with 2-3 teachers at a time. This is a busy age group with lots of potty training and hands on activities. Young preschoolers are learning how to use their words and to develop their newly emerging friendship skills. This classroom is full of sensory activities, outside time, art, and play. The Assistant Preschool Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children ages 3–5.
