About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides direction for the program and classroom, and implements program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Implements curriculum within the established guidelines. 2. Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans. 3. Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities. 4. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child. 5. Ensures parents are kept informed of all site and program activities and communicates both positive and negative behavior of children to parents. 6. Maintains program site and equipment. 7. Maintains required program records including attendance sheets, incident sheets, and behavior reports. 8. Attends and participates in program activities, staff meetings, and staff training. 9. Follows and implements the Healthy Eating and Physical Activity standards. 10. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
  • At least 18 years of age
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 30 days of hire date.
  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
  • Applicants should have a desire to work in a career field that involves children and families.
  • Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.
  • requires regular standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 40 pounds to engage with children.
  • Must be able to complete and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid; able to assist individuals in need until professional help arrives.
  • Ability to quickly identify emergency situations (medical, fire, environmental, etc.) and respond appropriately following established procedures.
  • Required to report all safety incidents and hazards immediately and accurately to supervisors.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and hazard-free environment for all staff, members, and participants.
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks related to safety, including assisting individuals of various ages and physical abilities.
  • Follow all YMCA safety protocols, OSHA standards, and state/local regulations as applicable.
